Mounting biking is a great way to get out into the great outdoors as well as a great way to stay or get into shape. If you are the type of person who loves the thought of spending time in the countryside but craves the thrill of speed, mounting biking could be for you.

Mounting biking is not just for speed junkies though and it takes on several forms with the most popular being cross country biking. This is simply cycling at your own pace along trails which take you through woodland on uphill, downhill and flat terrain. Many of these trails take you through breathtakingly lovely scenery that is best enjoyed at a more leasurely pace.

Mountain Biking Yourself To Fitness

A bi-product of mountain biking is a fantastic workout for the heart and although many consider it a sport for thrill seekers, it is a great way to get yourself into shape. Muntain biking along the trail at a steady pace gives you a quality excercise regime that gives both muscle and cardiac a great workout. This will improve your heart and burn down excess fats and reserves.

As well as keeping in shape the lungs too are treated to a good workout because you will find most mountain biking trails located well away from cities and pollution. Taking a ride along these trails exposes you to fresh clean air that you just cannot find anywhere else. To get the full health benefit of mountain biking you need to be going regularly, at least a couple of times a week and the trail needs to be good mix of uphill, flat and downhill terrain.

Mountain biking also offers a great outlet for any pent up frustrations and stresses that have built up during your working week. Biking along a rough trail is exhausting but in a good way and when its time to go downhill the adrenaline rush can be exhilarating as you build up speed while remaining in control.

Getting into mounting biking is not expensive although later it can get costly if you start upgrading your gear in search of the latest, lightest parts to improve your speed. At first though you will be best off either borrowing a bike or treating yourself to an inexpensive one. Whether you buy or borrow your first mountain bike you will certainly want to purchase your own helmet and other safety gear and make sure you have a basic toolkit and puncture repair kit in your backpack.
